Senior Analyst

Research Categories

Core Transport Network, Broadband

Phil Hochmuth is a senior analyst in Yankee Group's Anywhere Enterprise research group. He focuses on data services used by large enterprises to connect sites across the metro area and the globe. In particular, Hochmuth tracks Ethernet WAN access services, as well as IP VPN and MPLS services offered by carriers directly to enterprise customers. Part of Hochmuth's research also analyzes how new enterprise technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing and unified communications are transforming corporate WANs, and the effects of this transformation on how enterprises choose their carriers.

Prior to Yankee Group, Hochmuth was a senior editor at Network World magazine, covering enterprise routing and switching technology, wireless LANs, VoIP and unified communications, as well as Linux and open-source software. Before that, Hochmuth was a systems integrator for a New Hampshire-based VAR, installing networks and prepress systems for clients in the newspaper and publishing industry.

Hochmuth holds a B.A. degree in journalism from Northeastern University.
