Yankee Group is looking for a Senior Analyst with excellent communication and market research skills to produce written deliverables, consulting and presentations for clients and industry groups. This Senior Analyst will focus on the emerging network technologies that help service providers design and deploy highly flexible, scalable and secure services over the intelligent IP network. Areas of investigation include Web-based security, IPv6, AAA, Domain Name System (DNS) and DNSSec, and Network Policy Management platforms. The Senior Analyst will examine network–centric security issues plaguing service providers and ISPs today, including Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, spoofing and amplification attacks. This individual will not be responsible for tracking enterprise- and desktop–focused security solutions such as firewalls. The Senior Analyst will work with analysts in both our Network infrastructure and Network Software teams to ensure seamless coverage of the next–generation carrier network. This candidate will be responsible for helping drive Yankee Group's research agenda in areas such as telecom network infrastructure, software and service provider business models. This candidate will help provide insight into market trends for Yankee Group clients, including fixed and mobile service providers, network infrastructure providers and telecom solution providers.
Core job functions include:
- Perform sophisticated market research, including quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of the Enabling Technologies team at Yankee Group.
- Develop, maintain and manage models, forecasts and monitor instruments for key technology categories.
- Develop and deliver detailed research publications, case studies, consulting proposals and conference presentations relating to telecom solutions and business models.
- Serve as a point of contact for Yankee Group's advisory service, liaising directly with decision-makers at all levels within our global client base on urgent strategic and tactical matters.
- Communicate research findings to external constituents; this includes providing expert opinion and industry insight to members of the press, to client prospects and to industry participants via conferences, blogging, etc.
- Drive business development opportunities by proactively translating research and analysis into consulting and custom research opportunities.
- Support the delivery of consulting and customer research engagements through delivery of key market data, business model and product analysis, customer analysis and segmentation, and strategic and tactical recommendations.
- Support internal initiatives as necessary.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have over 6 years of experience working in market research, financial analysis or strategy consulting, or in a telecommunications vendor environment, with a focus on the telecommunications and/or media industries. Specific requirements include:
- Writing Skills: Must possess excellent written communication skills. Candidate will be expected to present research findings, actionable recommendations and advice to clients via concise and compelling research reports and blog entries.
- Presentation Skills: Must possess excellent verbal communication skills. Candidate will be expected to present research findings, actionable recommendations and advice to clients via executive presentations, consulting engagements and regular interactions with press and media.
- Organization and Planning Skills: Must be able to plan and manage individual workload in a coordinated effort with team members to reach internal and external deliverables and timelines.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Must be proficient at primary and secondary research, with experience in consulting. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential; familiarity with SPSS and/or MarketSight is a definite plus.

Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is essential; familiarity with SPSS and MarketSight is a plus.
