Briefings

I submitted a briefing request. How soon will I hear back?
Please allow 7 to 10 business days for a confirmation. If you have any questions, contact Sales at clientservice@yankeegroup.com or at 617.956.5000, ext. 458. Please include your contact and company information in your message.

How many briefings may I request?
Briefings for non-Yankee Group clients are limited to one each year. To request a briefing with a Yankee Group analyst, please complete our briefing request form.

Yankee Group clients who would like to schedule an analyst briefing should contact their Client Service Specialist to schedule a meeting or contact Client Service at clientservice@yankeegroup.com.

Why would a briefing request be denied?
While we value the opportunity to meet with non-Yankee Group clients, we are sometimes unable to schedule a briefing due to the volume of requests we receive, relevance to current Yankee Group research, or the availability of our research analysts.

General Link Membership

What is a licensed Yankee Group Link Member?
A Yankee Group Link Member is a registered user of www.yankeegroup.com. Each user has a unique username and password and is given access to the content intended for them through their company’s contract with Yankee Group.

What happened to the list of Decision Services and Decision Instruments?
With the Link Experience, content is no longer organized by discrete services. All documents published by Yankee Group can be found through the Search & Browse features on the site. Full access to these publications is determined by your company’s contract with Yankee Group.

How do I find my research without the list of Decision Services?
With Link Research you have access to all the strategic research you had access to before from the Decision Services your company purchased, plus all the research published to the other Decision Services you may not have had access to previously. This research is organized by topic, by market segment, and by geography to help you find exactly what you need.

What is the Topline Data Forecast?
Topline Data Forecast is a deliverable created just for Link Research clients. It is an overview by region (North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific, Latin America) of the data found in the Link Data Market Adoption Monitors & Forecasts.

What’s the overall difference between Decision Instrument Forecasts/Trackers and Link Data Market Adoption Monitors & Forecasts?
Decision Instruments’ Forecasts and Trackers have been changed to an easier to understand product suite called Link Data Market Adoption Monitors & Forecasts . The Market Adoption Monitors & Forecasts incorporate all the information contained in the legacy Forecasts and Trackers, plus more, arranged by market segment and region. You no longer need to search multiple files to find what you need, because they are all in the same place.

When I open a Data Module or the Topline Data Forecast from the yankeegroup.com web site, I am prompted to ‘Enable macros’. What will this do?
To use much of the functionality of Link Data Modules, you need to enable macros. When enabling macros, you can also install the digital certificate, so that you never need to enable macros again. For more information, go to: http://di.yankeegroup.com/ditools/installcertificate.htm

What is Yankee Group Update Service?
The Yankee Group Update Service is embedded into all Link Data products. If you enable macros, then your Excel file will check for updates, and if found will either apply the changes directly into your Excel file (minor corrections/additions), or recommend how to download the update (major updates).

One of the tabs in the Link Data Module says, “Interactive Extraction Tool”. What is this feature?
The interactive extraction tool allows you to export information into customized formats.

Using Search

How does the search engine work?
Yankee Group’s basic Search engine allows:

  • Full-text search
  • Exact phrasing with quotes
  • Full or partial title searches
  • Results sorted by
    • Relevance
    • Date
    • Title

How are search results' relevancy determined?
Search results relevancy rankings are based on the frequency of the search term or phrase in the document body, and the title, as well as the “freshness” of the document – the newer the document, the higher the ranking.

How can I improve my search results?
Using quotation marks will narrow down yout exact pharse to exactly the the order of the phrase in the quotations.
Using Advanced Search also allows you to narrow down your search and employ Boolean Operators through a user-friendly interface. Advanced Search provides options to search by document type and within certain date ranges.

How do the Advanced Search Boolean Operators work?
“with all of the words “  = Results that contain ALL the search terms you type in to this textbox, using the Boolean Operator AND.
For Example: searching on "Enterprise Mobility" in this field will search for all content with the terms "Enterprise" AND "Mobility".

“with the exact phrase” = Results that contain the exact phrase you type in this textbox.
For Example: searching on "Managed Services" in this field will search only for content that contains the phrase "Managed Servicest" exactly in that format.

“with at least one of the words “ = Results that contain at least one of the words you type in this textbox, using the Boolean Operator OR.
For Example: searching on "FMC Fixed Mobile Convergence" in this field will search for all content with any of the terms "FMC" OR "Fixed" OR "Mobile" OR "Convergence"

without the words “ = Results that do NOT contain any of the words you type in this textbox, using the Boolean Operator NOT.
For Example: searching on the term "Wireless Broadband" in this field will exclude any content that contains the terms "Wireless" and "Broadband" (usually used with terms sepcified in the fields above).
