X-Gen Networks

Anywhere ubiquity is about to be enhanced by a new generation of networks that create a great user experience. These new networks, which Yankee Group terms "X-Gen Networks," differ from prior generations because they are:
- Multi-megabit broadband. Customers aren't limited to just e-mail or browsing, but can freely engage in streaming media and video conferencing.
- Increasingly wireless. No longer tethered, users can consume experiences on the go, seamlessly transitioning from one network type to another.
- All-IP. Users don't have to think about the network they use to access the experiences they desire; they can get them over whatever network they choose.
X-Gen Networks connect users more quickly to all the people and things they care about. Their very speed and flexibility (they can connect to anything with an IP address) unlock a whole new world of innovation. Globally, Yankee Group sees the market for X-Gen 4G networks exceeding $18 billion in 2012.
