Yankee Group Sells 4G World

Firm intensifies focus on mobility research and advisory services.

Boston, MA Feb 7, 2012 - Yankee Group today announced the sale of the 4G World trade show and exposition business to UBM plc, a global media company. The sale of the stand-alone business unit completes the firm's transition to position itself as the exclusive research partner and advisor equipping companies to profit in the mobile world.

Over the past 12 months, Yankee Group has implemented a new research strategy, focused on understanding the attitudes, behaviors and usage patterns of mobile users as well as exploring enabling technologies and emerging business models across the mobile ecosystem. During that time, the firm has launched new products, including Mobile Money Strategies and Mobile Now, dramatically improved its data products with enhanced methodologies, tools and market offerings, and put in place a dedicated Data Sciences team to ensure high-quality delivery of its forecast, monitor and survey products.

The exit from the 4G World trade show and exposition business allows Yankee Group to focus exclusively on research and advisory services, as well as concentrate more investment into new products.
