Salesforce.com Acquires Sendia to Create AppExchange Mobile

Ubiquitous Connectivity Enables the Future Generation of the Business Web and Customer Centricity
On April 11, 2006, Salesforce.com, Inc., announced the acquisition of Sendia Corporation, a wireless technology company. Although the acquisition value was only a mere $15 million in cash, the significance is far greater. The combination of Salesforce.com's AppExchange on-demand platform with mobile technology from Sendia will enable Salesforce.com customers to take advantage of any application. This deal is about the future--building the next-generation business web to enable new communication habits, application accessibility and new services such as those from Salesforce.com.
E-mail remains the main application for current and future adoption of wireless applications. An average of 46% of large US business respondents from the Yankee Group 2005 Transatlantic Wireless Business Survey stated that custom corporate apps, access to legacy systems and salesforce automation are the next critical application requirements.
AppExchange Mobile is available and priced at $50 per user, per month for Enterprise Edition and Professional Edition customers. AppExchange Mobile is included in the Unlimited Edition for no extra charge. There are currently 60 on-demand applications available on the AppExchange including capabilities for sales, service and support, expense and finance, channel management and HR. It was also important for Salesforce.com to acquire Sendia to enable tight integration of the mobile platform for its partners. Using AppExchange Mobile, all current and future AppExchange partners will be able to extend their on-demand applications to any mobile device with less development cost or complexity.
